Although this wood is commonly called "Brazilian Cherry" its only similarity to cherry is in the color. It is much harder and denser than cherry. Jatoba heartwood is salmon to reddish brown when first cut and darkens with age, it may have brown streaks. The sapwood is usually white to yellow but may be gray or pinkish and is wide and well defined. Jatoba grain is straight to interlocked, with medium-to-coarse texture. The wood is very strong, hard and tough, with high shock resistance. Moderately difficult to work due to its high density, but so beautiful, it's well worth it! Moderate blunting effect on cutters. * Please Note: These are not pre-bored or drilled.
